# Linn Baarlid is the new volunteer manager

> Linn Baarlid will recruit and lead around 2,000 volunteers for the 2027 and 2028 World Cups and the 2029 World Championships.

Narvik 2029 has appointed Linn Baarlid as Head of Volunteers. Over the next few years, she will lead the effort to build and manage the volunteer organization for the World Cup races in 2027 and 2028 and the 2029 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, where around 2,000 volunteers will play a crucial role in the event.

Volunteers are the very heart of major sporting events, and around 2,000 volunteers will be needed across a wide range of roles and areas of responsibility during the Alpine World Ski Championships in Narvik. As Head of Volunteers, Baarlid will have overall responsibility for recruiting, coordinating, training and supporting volunteers in the years leading up to the championships.

Knut-Eirik Dybdal, CEO of Narvik 2029, is very pleased with the appointment.

Baarlid is looking forward both to becoming part of the local community in Narvik and to the tasks ahead.
- _I’m really looking forward to getting to know the town and the local community. I’m also excited to explore the beautiful natural surroundings in both winter and summer, says Baarlid._

She emphasises that what motivates her most is the opportunity to build a large volunteer community:

> «“It will be incredibly exciting to work on such a large and complex event. I look forward to putting together a volunteer team made up of people with a wide range of experience and expertise, and seeing what we can achieve together when everyone is working towards a common goal. Volunteers create the atmosphere, energy and experiences surrounding the event, and I look forward to helping build an environment where people thrive, grow and want to be part of the journey towards 2029,” she says.»

In the years ahead, Narvik 2029 will grow significantly as an organization. Recruiting, developing and supporting volunteers will be one of the most important factors for success on the road to the 2029 World Championships.
- _We are not just recruiting volunteers for an event. We are building a movement and a community that will leave a lasting legacy in the region. Linn will play a key role in this work, and we are delighted to have her on the team, says Dybdal._
